23 October 2008 Suspicious folks selling meat door-to-door: Some weeks ago, two fellows were selling meat door-to-door. Based on reports from several neighbors, it appears these folks were legitimately trying to sell meat. I don't know of anyone who bought any, but it looks like the mystery is solved. 17 October 2008 1) Suspicious guys on McNamee Road : On Sep 23, a neighbor on NW McNamee Road - about a mile up from HWY 30 reported: We had a couple of visits today from two guys in a black Toyota pickup. The first time the young driver (about 28 or so) got out and asked me if I'd like any beef or pork. I told them no and walked him back to his truck. That was about 2pm About a half hour ago, my wife looked out the window and saw him on our front porch looking around and the other man (older, about 40) was around our shed, looking around. He told my wife he was selling produce and when she said he was already here he told her that some people told them to stop back. The Police were notified. If anyone sees these guys, see if you can get a license plate number and call the Sheriff. 19 September 2008 1) Political Campaign Sign Stolen on 15000 Block of Skyline Blvd: Tuesday July 29 at 3 p.m. A witness in a car driving by gave this account: A witness saw a motorcyclist stopped & apparently trying to rip up the campaign sign. The witness stopped his car and gave the man a fist. The motorcyclist then jumped on his motorcycle taking the sign and drove away traveling uphill (northwesterly) on Skyline. The motorcyclist was wearing new-looking, expensive all black motorcycle visor, leather pants, leather jacket, boots & gloves. His motorcycle was also new, expensive and black. 11 July 2008 1) Mail Stolen; NW Skyline Blvd near Beck Road We had our mail stolen Tuesday, July 1st from our house on NW Skyline Blvd near Beck Road. The box wasn't damaged, the door was hanging open, magazine was left. The door won't stay closed unless it's locked so it wasn't our error. The mail was stolen between 11:00am when mail gets delivered and 5pm, in broad daylight. (I could even imagine someone following the mail truck) A few years ago we had our mail stolen, and we put in the locking mail box. Now it appears this isn't good enough. The lock was picked, as it still works with our key. 01 July 2008 1. No crimes were reported since last time. 26 June 2008 1. Burglary on Rock Creek Road; $500 cash reward offered: A neighbor on the 14000 block of NW Rock Creek Road reports: "Sometime between 12:30am and 6:30am Friday, 12 June 2008, our home was burglarized. We were asleep inside the home at the time. The perpetrators entered our home through a sliding picture storm window, stealing our laptop computer, a pair of sunglasses, and keys. They also broke into our shop and stole numerous tools, including a DeWalt cordless drill and saw. Although this crime is disturbing on many levels, the most unsettling element of the scenario is that the perpetrators carried out the crime and entered the premises with full knowledge that we were home at the time. We have a long drive, with a locked gate at the bottom. The thieves noted the locked gate, walked up the long driveway, spotted our vehicles parked in front of the garage, realized that the premises were occupied, yet still burglarized our home and property. We would urge all area residents to be particularly vigilant about locking doors and windows. Speaking for ourselves, we too often take for granted the bucolic and restful nature of this wonderful area, yet the moment your guard is let down is of course when you will suffer consequences. These thieves are brazen, fearless, and should be considered extremely dangerous. Please be mindful of your home, your surroundings, your property and premises, and of course, be hyper-aware of strangers and suspicious behavior. Some of the stolen items include: Please contact us (503-818-7946) at anytime with information related to this crime, or our valuables. We are offering a $500 no-questions asked CASH REWARD for safe return of our stolen items. 24 May 2008 1. In addition, a flower planter barrel was turned upside down and thrown against the fence. 29 April 2008 1. Stolen Signs: 5 roadside signs advertising Skyline Grange's Tree & Native Plant Sale were stolen during the week of April 20. These signs were located on Skyline at Thompson Rd (1), Newberry at Hwy 30 (2), and Skyline at Cornell Rd (2). Replacement value of these signs is $110. 14 April 2008 1. Copper theft on Highway 30 at Cornelius Pass Road: A neighbor tells us: "Our DSL was out all day yesterday and we got a call from Quest this morning. They said that someone had taken a length of the line "right out of the air" (for copper content) and the phones and DSL were out for all of Cornelius Pass serviced by Quest. This happened at Hwy 30 and Cornelius Pass Rd. Plus they had to stop traffic while the repair was made." 2. Residential Burglary on Newberry: Between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thurs., Apr. 10 entry to a locked home was made by breaking a window. Stolen are computer, hard drive, printer, financial papers, and cash. The entire house had been rifled through, clothing. This crime was reported to Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. (Source: Victim) 3. Comments regarding the Mailbox thief on McNamee Road: An informed neighbor writes: "We live on NW Skyline Boulevard and were recently the victims of mail theft + identity theft. A suspect has been identified who is part of a ring that is under investigation. We came to realize recently that several instances of one or two pieces of mail were taken over a long period probably two to three months last year. Until recently, we did not have a locking mailbox. The police are telling us that a ring has targeted our area as easy prey due to its rural nature + the profusion of easily opened mail boxes. At our address, on one occasion late last year an individual was sighted driving an old beat up red sedan with a loud muffler late at night. This person was stopping on the road checking non-locked mailboxes at 2:30 am. We know of at least three pieces of significant mail that contained personal information that were missing come tax time. These were not all mailed at the same time last year. I recommend to all residents in our area that they consider getting a Fort Knox 07 March 2008 1. No crimes were reported this period. 29 February 2008 1. Suspicious activity near McNamee trestle : A neighbor reports On Tuesday, February 26, 2008 a young fellow with a camera was spotted under the trestle on McNamee road. He was with someone in a dark (blue?) (Honda?). He didn't look like a vandal, but I assumed that it had something to do with the violated trolls. 2. Car Prowler on McNamee: A neighbor reports A friend of mine shared that about a month ago in the early morning (7:30 AM) she inadvertently left her car unlocked while walking on the McNamee Old Growth loop (above the trestle). Her iPod was taken and her glove box riffled through... I do not know if she reported it... but just a word of caution to all who walk there...hide your valuables, don't leave garage door openers (your registration has your address)..be sure to lock your car. 28 January 2008 1.
