About Our Area

SRN serves most of the westside of unincorporated Multnomah County, Oregon. Although our area is primarily rural in appearance, most residents commute to work in one of the many urban locations near us including Portland, Beaverton, and Hillsboro. Most of the area is zoned Commercial Forest Use (CFU), with some Rural Residential pockets and Exclusive Farm Use areas. Much of the area is in forest production and privately owned. We are located just west of Forest Park, Portland, Oregon which is the largest park, over 5,000 acres, located within an urban center. Our area has become important in assuring that diversity in wildlife habitat continues for the Park. Some consider our area a peninsula to the Oregon Cascade range, connecting Forest Park to the Cascades.
